Pool O’ Sludge

Finally the weather has let up and we can start on the pool.  So as you can see by the glorious photos below the pool is in pretty bad shape.  Have you ever seen a pool constructed with sand, pressure treated wood and a liner (no concrete in the bottom)? I haven’t.  Turns out it is fairly common around these parts.  Can anybody (that doesn’t live in the south) save me from chalking this up to another dumb southern thing.   If you are considering building a pool like this you can look forward to this in 10-15 years.

Bad Wallpaper

So all of the rooms in the house were covered in wallpaper (some had three layers that had been painted over several times).  We stripped all of the walls, fixed the giant holes and painted.  In one room the wall paper had been painted black and fire engine red and in another room bright green and purple, YUCK.  Also the wallpaper had started to peel off the walls at the seams due to the humidity and the previous owners simply installed vertical wooden strips (floor to ceiling) to rectify the situation.  As you will see as this blog progresses the previous owners were not carpenters.  For those of you who have never striped wallpaper it is very tedious.
